Turning 40...

Well, I was prepared to make the big leap into a new decade of my life...or so I thought. The past week has been one huge roller coaster.

Before my 40th birthday bash I was prepared with all the old cliches like "40 is just a number" and "I don't feel any older" and "You're still older than me". But, they just seem to ring hollow now.

40 is just a number...but it seems like so much more than 39!

I know you kids in your 20s and 30s won't understand, heck I didn't even understand it last week. 40 is all about responsibility.

When you get as old as me(err, I mean mature), you have to start thinking about retirement, will you be ready. In our case, having a kid is the biggest thing in our near future...I have a much younger wife!

You would think after being on this earth for over 40 years now I would have more answers, but I just keep finding more questions. But, best of all, I have discovered that it is the questions that make life worth living.

Questions are what gives your life substance, not answers. Once you find the answer what do you do?....You move on to the next question, right?

So, as I am ending my first week of Over 40 Life I challenge you to revel in the questions of life. Sure you want to find the answer and move on eventually, but don't forget to enjoy the questions, they are life's journey!
